Yankees Ace Gerrit Cole To Miss A Few Months Of The Season Due To Elbow Injury
After feeling “discomfort” in his right elbow, New York Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole is set to have an MRI, manager Aaron Boone informed reporters in Florida on Monday morning.

Speaking prior to a Grapefruit League game, Boone remarked that the current American League Cy Young Award winner has not been getting better between spring training games as anticipated.
After watching Cole’s initial footage, ElAttrache and a few Yankees physicians became so concerned about the ligament that they recommended an in-person meeting, even though none of them had found a rupture in Cole’s ulnar collateral ligament.

There are rumours that the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner may be out for a “prolonged period,” although as of right now, it’s thought that Cole may make a comeback in late May or early June.
Cole will need to wait for the swelling and inflammation to go down, at the very least, and then re-train himself to get back into major league pitching form.
This spring, the 33-year-old has displayed his typical outstanding velocity and command, but his recuperation—typically a non-issue for one of baseball’s most consistent starters—has become problematic.
So Gerrit Cole:
– Does NOT have a tear in his UCL
– There is enough concern that he is going to a highly regarded sports surgeon in LA to look at it
– Early hope/belief is that he could return in May or late June

Regarding Gerrit, it goes without saying that his absence for any significant period of time would be disastrous for the Yankees, who are attempting to make a run at the postseason after finishing 82-80 in 2023—their lowest finish in thirty years.
In addition to his brilliance, he is one of the most reliable players in the game due to his longevity. The last time Gerrit was benched for a non-COVID cause was in 2016.
The 33-year-old, who inked a $324 million contract before the 2020 campaign, has been a Yankees workhorse ever since.
Nobody has tossed more innings than Cole (664), in the four seasons that have elapsed since.

He has never undergone Tommy John surgery and has been a true rarity in baseball, a rotation fixture who has made the third-most starts in MLB (300) since debuting in 2013.

Carlos Rodon topped off at 97.3 MPH.
He averaged 94.3 MPH on the heater.
Seeing him be the pitcher who threw that blistering fastball is encouraging.
The Yankees need Rodon to be good. Even if Gerrit Cole was healthy, he can't be the guy who got blasted to hell and then sulked… pic.twitter.com/NAxvJndYbT
